Simple Practical Cake Recipe
This traditional cake is still popular today. The texture is soft, with a rather dominant coconut flavor and a multicolored look. Yes, that's a layer cake. In some areas of Central Java, layer cake is often a guest treat during a celebration event such as a wedding or circumcision.
Like other Indonesian traditional cakes, layer cake made from rice flour, starch flour, and coconut milk. Unfortunately, most people do not like to make this delicious cake because ribet alias less practical. Indeed, the key to cooking this layer cake should be patient and painstaking. Ingredients
- 800 ml of coconut milk
- 225 grams of rice flour
- 125 grams of starch
- 350 grams of sugar
- 1 tsp fine salt
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
- 1/2 tbsp pasta pandanus
- 2 drops of green cake dye
- 1 drop of brown paste
- 2 pieces of pandan leaves
How to make
- As always, prepare a steaming pot first, give a clean napkin on the lid and heat it over a low heat.
- Brush the baking sheet with cooking oil, then set aside.
- Wash pandan leaves, then boil with coconut milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt while stirring until boiling.
- Turn off the fire, remove pandannya leaves, and let stand so that the coconut milk warms up.
- Mix rice flour and starch in a clean container.
- When the coconut milk is warm, pour slowly into the flour mixture while stirring with a wooden spoon until the dough is slippery and not clumped.
- Take 1-2 tablespoons of dough vegetables, give chocolate paste, set aside.
- Divide the dough into 2 parts and one of the dough is given green dye and pandan paste.
- Layer dough ready for cooking.
- Pour 1 spoon of white dough into a baking dish, cook for 3 minutes.
- After 3 minutes, pour 1 spoon of green dough vegetables over the white layer, flatten and cook again 3 minutes.
- Continue the process of cooking the layer cake by pouring the dough alternately to the desired color.
- In this recipe, the chocolate dough is poured on the middle layer of the cake, then stacked again with white and green dough.
- After all the dough is finished or a full pan, steam for approximately 20-30 minutes until the cake is cooked.
- Lift the layer cake from the pan and chill.
- Layer cake ready to cut and served.
